National championships took place in most European countries at the first March weekend. Academic table tennis players who are preparing for the June European Universities Table Tennis Championship in Olomouc were not missing. 

The national championship of the organising country of EUC 2017 Czech republic took place in Frydlant nad Ostravici. Even the academic table tennis players got to the winners´ podium. By coincidence they got mainly the medals in doubles… Michal Benes (SKST Banik Havirov) who will defend the gold in singles from EUC 2015 in Geneva finished on the third place in men´s doubles. The bronze medals at the Czech National Championship were gained by Ondrej Bajger (SF SKK El Nino Praha) in the mixed doubles and Aneta Kucerova (MSK Gumotex Breclav) in the women´s doubles.

The 8th European Universities Table Tennis Championship will take place in Olomouc from the 20th till 25th June 2017. The closing date for entries is already on the 15th March!
